カレン・エッジ教授は、理学士(1993年)、教育学修士(1998年)、博士号(2005年、トロント大学、教育政策・行政学)を取得され、2006年にロンドン大学 IoEに教育リーダーシップ担当のレクチャラーとして着任されました。ロンドン大学着任前は、カナダ・オンタリオ州教育大臣上級補佐官、アメリカ・カリフォルニア大学サンタバーバラ校、世界銀行客員研究員を務めました。公共への関与に積極的に関わっており、常に政策および実践のリーダーを巻き込む研究を行っています。グローバルシティ・リーダーズ・プロジェクトの研究代表者であり、ファストトラックリーダー育成組織、関連する政府部門、学区および学校の上級政策担当官及び実践のリーダーを含む多様なステークホルダーを巻き込むために、都市ベースのアドバイザリーパネルを設立しました。2015年、ロンドン大学IOEディレクターより公共関与賞を受賞しました。Educational Assessment, Evaluation and Accountabilityの元編集長、School Leadership and Management and Leadership and Policy in Schoolsの編集委員です。

今回の講演では、「グローバルシティにおける教育改革とスクールリーダーシップの動向と展望」(Trends and Prospects of Educational Reform and School Leadership in Global Cities)という主題で、イギリス、カナダ、アメリカのスクールリーダーの動向、課題、展望について議論します。研究、政策、実践へのインプリケーションについても、特にグローバルシティにおけるスクールリーダーの世代論の枠組みから検討されます。

この講演の司会は、佐藤博志(筑波大学)と貞広斎子(千葉大学)が務めます。講演会は全体を通して英語で行われます。要所については、適宜、司会から日本語で補足説明を行います。日本語で質問をしたい方がおられましたら、司会が通訳を行います。本講演会には日本教育経営学会または日本教育行政学会の会員が無料で参加できます。事前予約は不要です。皆様のご参加をお待ちしています。

Trends and Prospects of Educational Reform and School Leadership in Global Cities

Karen has a BSc (1993), MA (1998) and PhD in Educational Policy and Administration (2005, Toronto). Before joining UCL IOE in 2006, she worked in senior advisory roles for the Minister of Education (Ontario) and the Centre for Educational Leadership at UC-Santa Barbara. She also worked as a Research Fellow at the World Bank in Washington, DC. She is actively involved in Public Engagement and consistently involves policy and practice leaders in her research studies. The Global City Leaders Project established city-based Advisory Panels to engage diverse stakeholders including senior policy and practice leaders from fast-track leadership development organisations, relevant government departments, school districts and schools. In 2015, she was awarded the UCL IOE Director’s Prize for Public Engagement. She is the Past Editor-in-Chief of Educational Assessment, Evaluation and Accountability and an Editorial Board member of School Leadership and Management and Leadership and Policy in Schools. In this presentation, under the title of “Trends and Prospects of Educational Reform and School Leadership in Global Cities”, oshe will discuss the trends, challenges, and prospects of school leaders in the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States. Implications for research, policy and practice will also be examined, in particular, in terms of frame of generation of school leaders in global cities. This lecture will be chaired by Hiroshi Sato (University of Tsukuba) and Saiko Sadahiro (Chiba University). Members of the two academic organizations can join for free.
